Miss Equality World – Miss Queen Singapore 2021

We are so stoked that Wax Factor is one of the official sponsors for Miss Equality World 2021. We are proud to have participated in this truly inspiring event amid the pandemic.

Andrea Razali is a Singaporean transwoman. She holds the title of Miss International Queen Singapore 2020. Andrea is one of a few Singaporean transwomen to appear on the covers of well-renowned publications, such as L’Officiel Singapore, and the New York Times Style: Singapore magazine, just to mention a few. She is also a beauty entrepreneur, an actress, a model, and an influencer.

Andrea is an ardent advocate for the LGBT community, and has been a spokesperson for the rights and awareness of the community for many years. She has attended myriad interviews, conferences, and media appearances to boost awareness and promote visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Andrea has done media interviews and press conferences for many renowned media channels. She conjointly offers back to the community through donations of garments to the native transgender shelter in Singapore. She had also founded Miss Equality World Singapore/Miss Queen Singapore, a pageant organization. The pageant aims to promote world equality and addresses respect for all humans through adversities.

“I want to live in a space that accepts the transgender community with open arms – that allows transgender women and men to have equal rights and be transparent without having to hide their identity. Equality is a human right.” quoted Andrea in the L’Officiel article.

Miss Equality World coronation, held on December 13 in the Projection Room. The esteemed panel of judges was within the LGBTQ community in Singapore. I would like to honorable mention that one of the guest speakers, Madam Amy Tashiana was one of the pioneers of transwoman, a former model, a performer of the old Boom Boom Room cabaret, and an advocate in the 70s through 90s. Seeing her speaking on stage brings back a nostalgic feeling that we once shared.

Despite the tightened measures announced by the Singapore authority due to CoVid-19, the event was a success and truly inspiring. The organization hopes to celebrate the aspiring new upcoming trans community of the next generation in the coronation of the new queen. Qatrisha, the new queen will be participating in the upcoming Miss Trans International 2022 in Barcelona come March. In June, she will be competing in Bali for Miss Equality World 2022 with other international contestants.
