How many sessions do you need? (DPL – Hair Removal)
Did you know that if you shave often enough, your hair regrowth will be courser, not to mention your ingrown problems when the hair starts growing in different directions? People whose hair grows faster tend to shave even more. A dynamic pulse light, DPL is an excellent way to reduce your hair for a long-term solution.
So, how many treatments are necessary? The exact number will depend on your body and the area you would like to treat. Hormones and other factors such as nutrition play an important role too.
What is DPL Hair Removal?
Dynamic pulse light therapy is an effective treatment to eliminate unwanted hair. Using state-of-the-art advanced light technology to target the hair follicles deep within the skin, which other hair removal methods cannot reach. By altering them, this method of hair removal can give you smooth skin. Your hair follicles are the culprit for re-producing hairs.
How does it work?
Our machine mimics medical-grade lasers in a doctor’s office using an e-light or target beam of light in short pulses. The lasers are color sensitive, making the light attracted to the melanin pigment in your hair typically black, and brown hairs. It is more difficult when your original hairs are blonde or red. When the hair absorbs the light, it is converted to heat and the heat travels to the hair follicle killing the root. A few days after the treatment, your hair will fall out and the follicle will be unable to reproduce.
Is it Safe?
Absolutely! Otherwise, there will not be any hair removal salons in the market practicing it right? The light that the lasers emit is attracted to your hairs, not the surrounding tissue or skin. But for darker-skinned clients, we have techniques that we apply to help them achieve the same results.
Compared to other methods of hair removal, this DPL therapy is safer. You don’t risk the occasional cutting yourself with a razor. There are no chemicals to irritate your skin as there are with the depilatory cream method. Unlike waxing, laser treatments don’t involve the discomfort of yanking each hair out by the root via hot wax.
Who is a Good Candidate for This Treatment?
Both men and women can enjoy the benefits. DPL treatment is most effective when there is a clear contrast between the color of your hair and the background of your skin. To increase the effectiveness of the treatment, avoid sun exposure in the time leading up to each session.
So how many sessions do you need?
Everyone is different. Each has a different amount of hair on their body and different hormone levels. There’s no one size fits all approach. Everyone’s hair grows at a different rate. To get rid of all your unwanted hair in a given area, we need to schedule multiple sessions by your hair growth cycles. The number of DPL hair removal sessions needed varies from person to person.
For most of these areas, 6-8 sessions are enough. Clients will rarely need more than 12 sessions to get the results they want.
The Different Stages of Hair Growth
Every hair you have goes through the following stages of the hair life cycle.
Anagen – This is a phase where your hair is active and visible above the surface of your skin.
Catagen – In this next phase of the hair cycle, the hair transitions from growing actively to resting in a dormant state.
Telogen – The hair is dormant at this time. It remains in or underneath your skin, much deeper than the dermis area. Here the follicle will begin to produce new baby hair.
Exogen – In this last phase, the hair sheds itself. Once it is gone, the new one will reappear.
Your Maintenance Sessions
After completing their initial sessions, most people only need to come in for touch-up treatments once or twice a year. For some people, even fewer touch-ups are needed.
Achieve lasting results with DPL
So, how many DPL hair removal sessions are necessary to get rid of your unwanted hair for good? The answer depends on your individual needs, but most people can finish their initial treatment within 6-8 sessions.
When the sessions are done, you will enjoy the numerous benefits of a life without unwanted hair. Your skin will be healthier because you won’t experience the constant irritation of shaving, waxing, or using depilatory methods of hair removal.
